The Perfect Date

When Jesse and I were dating we would see each other every weekend and we would go out dancing, have brunch or stay in and watch a movie. When I had Natalia, I understood that those spontaneous dates would be more difficult to have and instead we would have to plan our dates, which isn’t romantic at times.

For the past couple of weeks, it’s been feeling a lot like a routine at home and I desperately needed a date with my man. Yes I see him every day, he snores every night and gives me a kiss goodbye before he goes to work but I wanted us to be our “before baby” selves for one night. So, I made it happen!

I sent Jesse a text letting him know that I was going to get dolled up cause he was going to take me out on a date. Thankfully my mom was free that Friday night and was excited to babysit Natalia and insisted to keep her overnight and I couldn’t help but say “sure” without hesitation. At this point in my life, I don’t drink as much as I use to and it felt good knowing I could drink and that someone would be driving me home. Yes, I love tequila, back in my golden days I would take three shots and wouldn’t feel a thing, now? Let’s just say one to two drinks is enough.
We finally get to the restaurant and I don’t know what it was that made this date different but it felt like the old us. We talked about our goals, what we expected from each other, and reminisced about the old days. It’s as if I was getting to know him all over again; the food and drinks were good by the way, I think that may have something to do with it. What I take away from it was that we can be these people again we just have to manage a way.

The date ended and let’s be honest, we wanted to take advantage that Natalia was spending the night at my mom’s so you bet we slept in real good! Wink, wink. (Hope Jesse isn’t reading this). All jokes aside, we slept about 9+ hours and when a human being has been deprived of sleep for months, you better believe it makes them feel like a whole new person.

What about you? When was the last time you had a date with your loved one?
